Amharic for “hot” Berbere (pronounced “Ber-be-re”) is a classic Ethiopian spice rub which consists of paprika, peppers, garlic, and other herbs and spices.
Berbere is a key ingredient in Ethiopian cuisine and is found typically in stews or wat made of meats, lentils, or vegetables. To use add into a stew while sauteing vegetables to add depth and flavor. Berbere is also fantastic as a dry rub on meats or mixed with oil to form a marinade.
